Why this rule exists
Every roleplay story begins with a believable character. Creating realistic personalities, backgrounds, and motivations leads to meaningful interactions, stronger relationships, and more memorable long-term stories.
Official Policy
Players are expected to create characters that naturally fit the world of Aeon Roleplay.
Characters should have believable personalities, motivations, and goals that encourage enjoyable roleplay rather than unrealistic or disruptive behavior.
Characters created solely to troll, evade consequences, or intentionally disrupt roleplay are prohibited.

Consistency helps maintain immersion and allows other players to build lasting stories with your character. A believable character grows through roleplay instead of changing whenever it becomes convenient.

Your character should maintain consistent memories, relationships, and personal history throughout their lifetime.
Major changes in personality, beliefs, criminal history, employment, or relationships should develop naturally through roleplay rather than changing without explanation.
Players should avoid abandoning character development simply because circumstances become difficult or inconvenient.

✅ Allowing your character to grow after major life events.
✅ Building long-term friendships, rivalries, and reputations.
✅ Letting successes and failures shape your character over time.
❌ Completely changing your character's personality overnight without roleplay.

🏷 Character Naming
Why this rule exists
Realistic character names help maintain immersion and reinforce the identity of every character. They also make it easier for players and staff to recognize characters throughout ongoing roleplay.
Official Policy
Character names should be appropriate for the setting and should not be intended as jokes, memes, offensive language, or references designed to break immersion.
Players may have characters with similar—or even identical—names; however, every character must remain a unique individual with their own history, personality, relationships, and story.

✅ Developing unique personalities even if names are similar.
✅ Choosing a name that fits the world and your character's background.
❌ Creating names intended solely to troll or disrupt roleplay.

🧠 Character Knowledge
Why this rule exists
Characters should only remember information they have personally learned through legitimate roleplay. This preserves immersion, keeps interactions believable, and ensures every character develops their own unique experiences.
Official Policy
Characters may remember information they have personally learned through legitimate roleplay.
Knowledge learned by one character does not automatically transfer to another character owned by the same player.
Information should only influence your character if it was reasonably obtained through legitimate in-character roleplay.
Examples
✅ Remembering someone your character previously met.
✅ Recognizing a business owner your character has interacted with.
✅ Remembering events your character personally experienced.
❌ Sharing knowledge between separate characters without roleplay.
❌ Using information your current character has never learned.
❌ Having a new character immediately recognize people from another character's experiences.

Character Knowledge
Every character has their own memories.
Knowledge belongs to the character who learned it—not the player. Information should only be remembered, shared, or acted upon if it was obtained naturally through in-character roleplay.
🎙 Voice Identification
Why this rule exists
Voice recognition can add realism to roleplay, but it should only be relied upon when it is reasonably believable. Unrealistic voice identification can undermine immersion and create unfair advantages.
Official Policy
Characters may recognize familiar voices when it is reasonable to do so.
Voice identification should not be relied upon when circumstances would reasonably prevent accurate recognition, including but not limited to:
- Masks or face coverings
- Voice changers
- Significant distance
- Poor audio quality
- Loud environments
- High-stress situations
Staff may intervene if voice identification is being used unrealistically or to gain an unfair advantage.
Examples
✅ Recognizing a close friend speaking normally.
✅ Failing to recognize someone using a convincing disguise or voice changer.
✅ Asking questions in roleplay instead of immediately assuming who someone is.
❌ Instantly recognizing every masked individual by voice alone.
❌ Claiming perfect voice recognition in unrealistic situations.
❌ Ignoring environmental factors simply because you recognize the player.
Important
Voice Identification
Voice recognition should always be reasonable.
If there is genuine doubt whether your character would recognize someone's voice, roleplay the uncertainty instead of assuming certainty. When in doubt, prioritize believable roleplay over gaining information.
📺 Stream Sniping
Why this rule exists
Every player deserves a fair and immersive roleplay experience. Using another player's livestream, screen share, or other out-of-character viewing methods to gain information creates an unfair advantage and undermines the integrity of roleplay.
Official Policy
Players may not use information obtained through livestreams, screen sharing, Discord streams, recordings, or any other out-of-character viewing method to influence roleplay.
If your character did not legitimately learn the information through roleplay, your character does not know it.
Examples
✅ Closing a stream before joining the server.
✅ Reporting accidental information to staff if necessary.
✅ Leaving a Discord screen share if it would reveal in-character information.
❌ Watching another player's stream to locate them.
❌ Using Discord screen sharing to gain tactical information.
❌ Sharing livestream information with other players.
Immediate Action
Stream Sniping
Out-of-character viewing should never influence in-character decisions.
If you accidentally learn information through a livestream, Discord stream, screen share, or recording, do not act on it in roleplay. When in doubt, remove yourself from the situation or contact staff for guidance.
🔄 Multiple Character Responsibilities
Why this rule exists
Many players enjoy creating multiple characters with different personalities and stories. To maintain immersion, every character must remain an independent individual with their own identity, experiences, and development.
Official Policy
Players may own multiple characters.
Each character is expected to:
- Maintain their own personality, history, and relationships.
- Develop independently through roleplay.
- Earn knowledge naturally through their own experiences.
- Face the consequences of their own actions.
Creating or switching characters for the purpose of avoiding consequences, transferring knowledge, or gaining an unfair advantage is prohibited.
Characters with similar or identical names are permitted, provided they remain separate individuals within roleplay.
Examples
✅ Creating a civilian and a police officer with completely separate lives.
✅ Allowing each character to develop their own friendships and history.
✅ Accepting different reputations and consequences for each character.
❌ Using one character to gather information for another.
❌ Switching characters to avoid ongoing roleplay or consequences.
❌ Treating multiple characters as though they share memories or knowledge.

Every character should feel like a real person with their own goals, personality, memories, and experiences.
Players are expected to keep each character's knowledge, relationships, and story completely separate while contributing to immersive and believable roleplay.
When in doubt, ask yourself:
"Would this character realistically know this, do this, or react this way?"
If the answer is no, reconsider your actions before continuing the scenario.
