🚀 Getting Started
Do I need to join the Discord?
Yes.
Discord is where you'll find announcements, community updates, support, event information, and other important server news. It's also the easiest place to ask questions if you ever need help.
Do I need to read all of the rules?
Yes—we strongly recommend it.
Reading the Community Handbook before joining the server helps you understand how Aeon works, avoid common mistakes, and create a better roleplay experience for everyone.
Do I need to create a detailed backstory?
No.
A detailed backstory isn't required, but having a general idea of who your character is, what they do, and what their goals are can make roleplay feel much more natural.
What if I make a mistake?
Everyone is new at some point.
If you make an honest mistake, don't panic. Learn from it, ask questions if you're unsure, and continue improving. Staff are here to help players learn—not to punish honest mistakes.
How do I find people to roleplay with?
Start with everyday interactions.
Visit local businesses, introduce yourself to other players, take on a job, attend community events, or simply strike up a conversation. Some of the best roleplay begins with a simple "hello."
Can I play alone?
Absolutely.
While Aeon is built around interacting with other players, there's plenty you can do on your own while naturally meeting people along the way. Working jobs, exploring the city, shopping, or visiting businesses often leads to new roleplay opportunities.
How long does it take to get started?
Not long.
Within your first session you can create your character, earn your first paycheck, purchase basic necessities, and begin building your story. Remember—there's no rush. The journey is often more rewarding than reaching the destination.
What should I focus on first?
Keep it simple.
Find employment, learn the city, earn some money, meet other players, and set a few small goals for your character. Building your story gradually creates more meaningful and memorable roleplay than trying to own everything immediately.
💼 Employment
What's the difference between civilian work and government careers?
Civilian jobs are available immediately and usually don't require an application, making them a great way to earn your first paycheck.
Government departments require an in-game application, an interview (if applicable), and approval before you can begin serving.
How do I join a player-owned business?
Player-owned businesses manage their own hiring through the in-game application system.
If a business is actively hiring, you can submit an application and wait for the business owner or management team to review it.
Can I change jobs later?
Absolutely.
You're free to explore different careers as your character's story develops. Many players work several different jobs before finding the career that best fits their roleplay.
What if I don't get accepted into a government department?
Don't get discouraged.
Government positions are often competitive. Continue building your character through civilian jobs, player-owned businesses, and everyday roleplay while gaining more experience before applying again.
Do I have to keep the same job forever?
No.
Your character's career can change over time. Whether you're changing professions, opening a business, or pursuing a government career, career progression is a natural part of roleplay.
🎭 Roleplay
What if I'm new to roleplay?
That's perfectly okay.
Everyone starts somewhere. Take your time, ask questions, and focus on learning rather than being perfect. Most experienced players were new once too, and the community is here to help.
Do I have to stay in character?
Yes.
Serious roleplay means remaining in character whenever appropriate and avoiding out-of-character (OOC) behavior during gameplay.
If you need to communicate OOC, use the appropriate methods provided by the server and keep it to a minimum.
What if I don't know how my character would react?
Take a moment and think about what makes sense for your character.
There isn't always one "correct" answer. As long as your actions are believable and consistent with your character, you're usually on the right track.
Is it okay to ask other players questions?
Absolutely.
Most players are happy to help. If you have questions about gameplay, mechanics, or server features, don't hesitate to ask in Discord or through the appropriate support channels.
Do I always need to be involved in major events?
No.
Some of the best roleplay comes from everyday interactions. Meeting new people, working a job, visiting businesses, or simply having a conversation can create memorable stories just as easily as major events.
🆘 Support
I found a bug. What should I do?
Please report bugs through the appropriate support channels so they can be investigated and resolved.
If possible, include screenshots, videos, or steps to reproduce the issue to help staff investigate more quickly.
Please do not intentionally exploit bugs or unintended mechanics. Report them instead of using them for personal gain.
How do I report a player?
If another player is breaking the rules, submit a report through the appropriate support or reporting channels.
When possible, include evidence such as screenshots or video clips to help staff review the situation accurately.
How do I appeal a staff decision?
Appeals should be submitted through the official appeal process outlined in the Staff & Appeals section of the Community Handbook.
Be honest, respectful, and provide any information that may help staff review your appeal.
